The centre has had a busy year, encouraging local apprenticeships, sponsoring local groups and fundraising for charity.
Our Facilities Management Apprentice is due to complete his training and qualifications in February 2017. He shares an office with the Operations Manager and assists with a range of tasks such as site inspections and liaising with retailers on trading performance – keep up the good work!
It has also been a good year for the local Docklands Junior Football Club. Coach Jamie Mehmet has coached the under-15s team to victory in recent seasons and this year the under-15s team played in the under-16s league. We wish them good luck in their ongoing matches.
We’re proud to welcome back the British Heart Foundation’s “Bag it.Beat it”, with staff raring to go, providing manpower to collect donated unwanted clothes in aid of crucial research into heart disease. In 2015, Surrey Quays raised more money than any other site (£15,700) with 872 bags of unwanted items being donated.
Last but by no means least, we are excited to also be working with the charity CREATE on an art space project for young carers designed to build upon social and arts-based skills, working to produce jewellery, photographs, a mural and drama.
