ASSISTANT MANAGER

Established in 1981 with a single store in the North West of England, JD Sports Fashion Plc is a leading Multi-Channel retailer of sports fashion and outdoor brands in the UK and Europe.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will assist the Store Manager in the day to day running of the store. Taking ownership of a number of duties while making sure that the stores KPIs are achieved. Furthermore, in the Manager’s absence, you will be the first point of contact, therefore you will motivate the workforce to drive sales and offer exceptional customer service while exceeding targets and maintaining the standards of the business.

Customer service

  • Ensure that customers are given considerate and responsible service throughout their visit.
  • Deal with inquiries and complaints resolving the issue at the earliest opportunity in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that personal appearance and standard of dress for the internal team is in line with company guidelines.
  • Have an understanding of the Customer Service measuring programme, Customer Satisfaction Surveys

Sales

  • Ensure that targets are achieved and, where possible, exceeded.
  • Able to understand and interpret the relevant Oracle reports.
  • Utilise in-store devices, ensuring that all team members are driving this at every opportunity.
  • Confident use of the store’s dashboard to analyse Footfall, ATV and Conversion.

Visual Merchandising 

  • Attract, engage and motivate customers into making purchases in store by using the latest visual techniques.
  • Ensure that the weekly brief has been actioned with the store
  • Ensure that all merchandise is correctly priced, price amendments are actioned and all POS is correctly displayed.
  • Keep stock on display clean and presentable at all times.

Training & Development

  • Develop internal staff and promote progression within the group.
  • Monitor the Training and Development site and keep track of staff progression by the relevant
  • E-assessments.
  • Assist with store recruitment, new starter inductions, and staff training.
  • Management development should be prioritised with the use of the Trainee Management Academy.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed

  • Retail Management experience.
  • Excellent Time Management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • IT skills - Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

    Surrey Quays is located a quarter of a mile from the southern exit of the Rotherhithe tunnel, 2 miles from Tower Bridge. Enter SE16 7LL into your SatNav device. 

  • Train

    You can catch overground trains from Dalston Junction and West Croydon directly to Surrey Quays station.

    You can also take the Jubilee line to Canada Water station, which is situated on the edge of our car park. Journey times are 3 minutes from Canary Wharf, 10 minutes from Whitechapel and 15 minutes from Stratford.

  • Bus

    London Bus services to the centre include: 1, 47, 188, 199, 225, 381, C10 and P12.

Services

Pick up your Amazon order at Surrey Quays. The lockers are located opposite the toilets on the ground level. 

We have a great car wash and valet service at Surrey Quays. You will find the car wash located adjacent to the main entrance doors within the red zone of our car park.

Click & Collect services are available from a whole range of retailers at Surrey Quays - please refer to our 'Click & Collect' page for a list of retailers offering this service. 

Many of our stores offer gift cards, so you don't have to struggle with searching for the perfect present. Just ask in-store for more details. 

There is a petrol station next to Tesco.

There isn't a Shopmobility service but wheelchairs are available for hire free of charge from the Security Office, located just past the Management office. Please note identification is required.

Facilities

Public facilities can be found on the ground and first floors of the centre and also within Tesco.

Cash points are located within HSBC and Halifax, as well as outside of Tesco. 

We have a noticeboard located outside of Tesco where you can advertise non-commercial events and activities of a local community nature.

To make use of this facility, simply bring along an A4 laminated advert to the Centre Management office and we will display your advert on the board for you. Please call by the Centre Management office for more information. 

We have 1,300 free* parking spaces available including disabled spaces and bays for parents with toddlers.

Any vehicle on site over the 4 hour maximum stay period will be liable to a parking charge as displayed on the signage on site.

We are proud that our car park has been issued the Park Mark, an award given by the Police to car parks that have achieved the standards of the Safer Parking Scheme, designed to reduce crime in car parks.

Our Quiet Room is located on the ground floor adjacent to the public toilets. The room is a retreat for reflection, solitude and contemplation and is available for customers, guests and staff.

Our British Heart Foundation textile bins are located outside Surrey Quays between the two main entrances. 

Please feel free to take home any book that you would like to read. If you've finished a book, we would invite you to donate it to this library for others to enjoy. The library is on the ground floor heading towards the Centre Management office.
